We are at critical crossroads for our environmental future. This year reckless, misleading initiatives threaten to undo the progress we’ve fought for on climate action and will sabotage our efforts to combat climate justice leaving our air, water, and public risk.

Please join the collective to hold polluters accountable and target statewide climate justice investments to frontline communities. Elections are a critical component of our work to move what’s politically possible towards what we really need—a Just Transition, Environmental and Climate Justice. Your VOTE is our POWER

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks for attending our Beer and Chocolate event. Your presence and support made a significant impact, and we truly appreciate your commitment to supporting our organization and our youth!

This year we celebrated the 10th year of our Duwamish Valley Youth Corps, recognizing their accomplishments and advocacy on Environmental Justice!  We also recognized our wonderful GOAT Carmen Martinez who has been leading the Program and has become a great mentor and guide for many generations of youth! 

Thanks to your generosity and engagement always, we were able to celebrate our accomplishments together and continue to fight for justice! We loved spending an evening with you in community and friendship.

Through the event and generous support from One Roof Foundation we were able to meet our event goal and raise USD $22,000   that will go towards supporting climate justice work!

EPA Holding Office Hours

Talk in person with Ecology, EPA, and LDWG at community office hours on October 24 from 4:30-6:30pm.

Washington’s Department of Ecology hosts monthly community office hours to connect with outreach and technical staff in person and share information about cleanup sites along the Lower Duwamish Waterway.

What’s new in our Clean Air Program?

We are happy to announce that, thanks to Equinox Studios’ Facilities, we have successfully installed two Black Carbon monitors in Georgetown! This important step will help us better understand and address the impacts of black carbon in our environment.

Black carbon is harmful because it contributes to air pollution and can have serious effects on public health and the climate. By monitoring its levels, we can take proactive measures to improve air quality and protect our community. These measurements are in addition to the measurements of particulate matter That DRCC has measured since March.

We hope that everyone has been staying warm and enjoying this lovely transition from fall into winter. In partnership with Seattle Public Utilities, our youth corps has been busy handing out free leaf bags to the community! For the month of November, SPU will collect up to 10 extra leaf bags of yard waste at no extra charge! (Please note that this service is only available to you if you or your building are currently billed for regular food & yard waste collection). Our youth know that it’s important to keep storm drains free of litter and leaves, especially in the winter because they can get clogged or blocked, and lead to large ponds or even flooding in the streets.

Youth Climate Justice Forum Nov 23!

Get ready for the Climate Justice Youth Forum! Coming up on Saturday November 23rd, community will have the chance to celebrate our incredible Duwamish Valley Youth Corps as they graduate from this year's fall program. This gathering will feature free food, beverages, and special presentations from each of the cohorts to share out what they have been working on and what they have learned. There will also be a FREE TREE giveaway by our hardworking Dirt Corps group! This event is also a great opportunity for community members like you to share ideas, opinions, and feedback about concerns that you have as a resident of the Duwamish Valley.  This years Climate Justice Youth Forum will take place at Concord Elementary School from 11am - 1pm. DRCC in Baltimore

DRCC spent time this week at a One Water Leadership Institute in Baltimore called “Effective and Equitable Water Workforce Solutions”. We are partnering with Lake City Collective and Seattle Public Utilities to participate in a Water Workforce Task Force convened by the US Water Alliance. Our team, along with cohorts from 6 other US cities, will be spending time together over the next two years to develop a pilot program. The program will help Utilities’ to grow and diversify their employee bases, which are facing growing waves of retirements. DRCC is hoping this work will support our commitment to economic investment in the Duwamish Valley and local job and career pathways.

DRCC aside with Puget Sound Keepers, Port of Seattle, River Access Paddle Programs, and Duwamish Alive hosted a cleanup and restoration on  həʔapus Village Park & Shoreline Habitat with about 50+ volunteers. Thank you for joining us.
