Duwamish Valley Affordable Housing Coalition continues to build capacity DRCC continues to invest time and resources into the Duwamish Valley Affordable Housing Coalition, and our dream of supporting the development of enough affordable units to replace those lost to gentrification and displacement. Below are updates on our Three-Prong approach, our Platicas (Conversations) series, and next steps. Prong 1. New affordable housing. In June, the City will close on the purchase of two parcels at 14th and Henderson. We will be providing input to the Office of Housing Request for Proposals for nonprofit housing developers which is scheduled to go out in 2023. Prong 2. Multi-purpose building. The site planning and building design teams have been collaborating regularly since January. We have met with the potential partners and will be planning a second and third meeting for this summer. Stay tuned for an invitation to engage in this exciting and creative process. Prong 3. Preservation. The Coalition was denied funding to acquire a building with 15 units in South Park. This is the 4th attempt we’ve made to preserve naturally occurring affordable housing. We are currently assessing the feasibility of the acquisition of a 6 unit building in South Park.
